Erich Soldat was born in St. Gallen, Switzerland - a town with a rich textile history since the Middle Ages. At 17 he began an internship with Forster-Rohner, a 100-year-old company that manufactures high-end embroidery. He founded his textile agency in NYC in 2000. He works with important American fashion firms like Oscar de la Renta, Naeem Khan, Mayle, Tory Burch, and Carolina Herrera, sourcing and customizing couture fabrics from European mills that have decades of textile production history and experience.

My work involves helping designers find the fabrics they need to develop their collections. Not only do I source textiles, but I assist in customizing a fabric - changing the background color, or the size of the prints, to better suit ta designer's collection. My knowledge of fabrics is important because I know what can and cannot be done - saving the designer from costly mistakes. I work closely with the brands and the mills simultaneously to actualize the vision of the designers.
